How is the 2026 NJ weekly benefit estimated?
Divide covered base-year earnings by qualifying base weeks, multiply by 85%, and round down to a whole dollar. The weekly maximum is $1,119. Do not automatically divide by 52 if you had fewer qualifying base weeks.
Do 20 weeks worked guarantee eligibility?
No. The 20-week route requires at least $310 of covered earnings in each counted week. Alternatively, at least $15,500 of base-year covered wages can satisfy the earnings requirement. Covered employment, qualifying leave, documentation and other claim rules still apply.
Is the TDI maximum always 26 weeks of payments?
No. TDI benefits are limited to the lesser of 26 weekly payments or one-third of covered base-year wages. This maximum is rounded down to a whole dollar. The approved disability period can further reduce payments.
What is excluded from this estimate?
This is a 2026 state-plan estimate for full weeks of TDI or continuous FLI. It does not model private-plan differences, alternate base years, intermittent leave, waiting-week timing, taxes, offsets or job-protection decisions.
